Savannah & Colin ~ E-session
•September 1, 2010 • Leave a CommentColin and his family are close friends of our family, so when asked if we would shoot for them – we were honored! We started our day in downtown Pendleton, moved over to the oil mill “ruins” and then to Lake Hartwell for some late afternoon sun! We’re looking forward to sharing their big day with them next month! Here are a few shots from the e-session.
AU Incoming Students Welcome!
•August 26, 2010 • Leave a CommentLast weekend Anderson University welcomed all of their incoming students and had a special service for the incoming freshman class. I know I’m getting older – because these guys are all class of 2014 . Sounds insane!! Anyhow – here are just a couple of shots from the move-in and service.

•August 24, 2010 • Leave a CommentA few months back we realized that we were shooting Brandy’s cousin’s wedding (Katie & Chris) as well, both of them booking with us just by chance. Catchy little coincidence! They have such a great family – we have been looking forward to hanging out with all of them again. Brandy and Mark are both incredibly nice people and we feel blessed to have been able to shoot their big day. Thanks guys!!
The ceremony was at Holy Trinity in downtown Greenville – which is just beautiful! Reception was held at the Westin Poinsett on Main Street. Here are a few teasers. We’ll have more posted in a couple of days. Enjoy!
Brandy ~ Bridal Session
•August 21, 2010 • Leave a CommentBrandy is a trooper. Plain and simple. We met up with her last Saturday for a rescheduled bridal shoot with the highest of hopes for an urban outside shoot. Unfortunately, mother nature had different plans that afternoon and proceeded to bless the parched earth with a beautiful drink (read “torrential downpour for 4 hours.”) So what’s a bride to do? Well – we tried waiting it out – but it was obvious that it could turn into a slumber party if we hung out too long. Instead – we made our way over to the Westin (where she was getting married the next weekend) and set up shop there (read “we made lemonade!”) We have been excited to share these pictures of our beautiful bride and now we can, as she and Mark were married earlier today. We’ll have some teasers from today’s wedding up in a day or two – but here are a few from the Westin’s session.

The Art of “Fine Art”
•August 18, 2010 • Leave a CommentWhat is “fine art” photography anyhow? Webster’s defines it as : “art (as painting, sculpture, or music) concerned primarily with the creation of beautiful objects.” So then what is beautiful? I guess it is all relative, as we all know, since beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I originally began my career years ago as a fine-art photographer. I took pictures of things, people, or places that I found beautiful and turned them into an image as I saw it. Luckily, others found what I saw as beautiful as well (or at least intriguing) because they bought my pictures. As a wedding photographer, I have been blessed with the opportunity to take that “art” eye and translate it through pictures of beautiful people on a beautiful day – brides and grooms on their wedding day. However, I have not had the medium to share some of my other work that I have proudly taken over the years. Some of these may speak to you – some may not, but I wanted to share these works with you all through this blog. So – moving forward, I will be randomly posting a picture or two here and there from my “fine art” past and present days. Please feel free to comment on them – like, hate, whatever. I’d love to hear your feedback!
This picture was taken outside Basilica de Sacre Coeur in Paris. This guy was standing out in the cold and snow paying his harmonica (harp) for spare change. I named this picture “Harp for Change” as an ode to him. Obviously a double meaning in the name though. This was back in the film days, so I purposely shot this black and white and with a 1600 ISO film, pushed to 3200. I thought that the added grain would help tell the story of the cold and blustery conditions. I’ve always loved this picture and have had many requests for a print of it. Enjoy!

Help us welcome Wendy!
•July 25, 2010 • 1 CommentSay hello to the newest addition to the Aperture Vision Family!
Wendy has just joined our team as a photographer’s assistant and photo-coordinator. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Wendy quite a few times over the past year for some other events and we are completely thrilled that she has decided to take on the task (and put up with me and my nit-picky ways!!) She’s excited to get started and you’ll be seeing her soon at a wedding near you!

•July 20, 2010 • Leave a CommentIt was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple! We’ve had the pleasure of working with Kelly for quite some time now. Between an engagement session, 2 bridal sessions (rain check), and the wedding – we’ve been thrilled to get to know her, Caleb, and their families! Here are a few pre-wedding shots from their big day. We’ll have more posted later this week so be sure to check back!
We’ll have more posted in a few days!!
Kelly ~ Bridal Session
•July 18, 2010 • Leave a CommentWe had a wonderful day with Kelly and Caleb yesterday and will have some pictures from their big day posted soon. But to keep you tied over – here are some shots from Kelly’s bridal session last month that we’ve had to sit on… until last night!
Originally, we had our shoot with Kelly planned so that we would hit 2 locations that day. Unfortunately, as we arrived at our 2nd location – the bottom dropped out of the sky and rained like crazy! So we rescheduled the second part of this shoot for the next weekend. Needless to say, the weather was beautiful – but MAN was it HOT!! You’d never know it from looking at Kelly. Never saw a drop of sweat! Michelle and I were taking in Propel intravenously… Here are some of our favorites from the day. Stay posted for shots from their wedding from last night!
Heath & Chris: E-session
•July 13, 2010 • 4 CommentsWhen Chris called me and asked me to shoot their wedding and engagement, I asked Chris – Have you checked with Heath? Chris, you see, is my brother – so shooting them is my incredible pleasure and joy. But – Chris has the benefit of knowing me all too well and therefore had to trust in me that the even the greatest brotherly-pratical-joke plans would take an aside. As difficult as it is for me not to try to totally humiliate my brother in some form or fashion, I would not dream of embarrassing his beautiful bride-to-be. Rest assured my brother, and the rest of my family – I will save the great humiliating practical joke for another day. Probably the wedding. :)
What is really cool about this whole gig is that it’s broken up into 3 parts. The E-session, the wedding later this year, and then the “reception” next year. I’m loving it! Below are some of my favorites from the day. Hope you all enjoy!

Chris has a green thumb and we couldn't get him out of the ferns. I think he thinks he belongs there...
Fun stuff! Thanks for letting me be your photog!!

Katie & Chris ~ Hitched! (part 1)
•June 8, 2010 • 1 CommentWe had the wonderful privilege of being Katie and Chris’s shadow this past weekend at their wedding. First – let me say that these two are a wonderfully welcoming couple and literally treated us like family from the very second we arrived. Second – these guys are a LOT of fun and threw an AWESOME party! Guys – we truly felt like we had 2 new friends at the end of the night. Have a great time over the border and we’ll talk to you when you get back. Here are some teasers to share while we’re working on all the great pictures.
The ceremony and reception were both at the Keowee Key Club, which is always a great venue. Cake by Art Eats. Flowers by Deborah Ponder (Katie’s Mom!) Day-of coordination by B&R Events. Music/DJ by Party Machine.

Vacation = Personal updates
•May 28, 2010 • 1 CommentOK – so we’re on vacation in Litchfield (next to Pawley’s island) – so as many of you who frequent our blogs know – when we are on vacation, we tend to drop a bunch of personal updates on the blog. So here’s the first of a few…
Right before we left, Reese’s Grammie put in a request to do a quick shoot in this cute long white dress. Quite frankly, Reese isn’t near tall enough for it yet – so most of the shots are pretty tight. But we got some really great stuff and wanted to share it. Enjoy!
Lindsey & Adam
•May 25, 2010 • Leave a CommentWe had a great weekend and had the pleasure of spending a big part of it with Lindsey and Adam. The ceremony and reception were both at the Hilton of Greenville, flowers by Kristi at Dahlia. Adam and his family are from Manchester, England (no – not London!) and a good many of them made the trip across the big-blue to come celebrate. Adam and Lindsey will soon be leaving us though – on their way back to England! Here are a few teasers from the day – we hope you enjoy!
